We aim for the ELM Workshop to be a welcoming and supportive environment for all. To that end, some accommodations are listed below, as well as the expected code of conduct. Should you require other support, please do not hesitate to reach out to Marimikel Charrier: mcharrier (at) rice.edu.
Accommodation
-
Bioscience Research Collaborative (BRC) is within 1-3 blocks of several hotels, minimizing walking requirements. If requested, transport will also be arranged.
-
The BRC has designated Privacy/Lactation/New Mother spaces in Room 116A located inside the first floor women’s restroom and Room 838 on the eighth floor. If childcare is needed, we can connect you to the local Bright Horizons.
-
Seating will be available during all sessions, including the poster session.
-
The BRC is wheelchair accessible throughout via elevators, ramps, handicap accessible doors, etc. An individual will be assigned to assist with navigation as needed.
-
Campus Services will be providing food for the event and have an extensive meal program. They take pride in variety along with considerations for food allergens and special dietary needs. All efforts will be made to label food with common allergens during the event. Should you have a less common allergy or dietary need, please inform us in advance. Information about additional campus dining options can be found here: dining.rice.edu. The Hollywood Cafe on the 2nd floor of the BRC also has food available for purchase. Their menu has limited selections that often include nuts/dairy/gluten but the owners are alert to any customers notifying them of specific allergies. You can view their menu here: brc.rice.edu/hollywood-cafe.
-
The BRC building has non-recirculating 100% pass through air from 3rd floor through 10th floor. 1st and 2nd floor are fed by Podium units and all are Merv Filtered and Pre-Filtered. Along with this all units that serve BRC are UV light disinfected. Masks are encouraged but not required.
-
The BRC does not provide live captioning automatically, but contractors that provide this service are available upon request.
-
For all general accessibility information, please contact the Rice Disability Resource Center at 713-348-5841 or access the DRC webpage at drc.rice.edu/campus-access.
